Post Office Pit - Great Massingham Photograph

Post Office Pit

(Post Office Pit / Great Massingham, Norfolk)

Right to left. You can see the end of the Robinson's barn, which was part of the Swan. You can see a large barn which has another behind, and beyond that was the bullock yard.
The village band used to practice in there. They've all gone now, the bullock yard was bulldozed into a farm pond in The Barns back garden.
You can see the stables between the barns and pub. In the centre is a little building with sloping roof, think it was a toilet. You can see Peartree Cottage and barn at the top. The Swan itself is unchanged on the outside. Note the hanging sign. Over by the Church wall was the telephone box. You can see an old cast iron sign, this was to warn crossroads ahead. The priority was different at The New Inn, it's been altered now.
